Privacy Policy

Glint is a Shopify app that generates social share images for your products. This policy explains exactly what we read from your store, what we store, and how to get it deleted. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than boilerplate.
Who we are
Glint (“Glint”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Glint Previews. You can reach us at support@glintpreviews.com for any question about this policy or about data we hold.
This policy covers the Glint Shopify app and the website at glintpreviews.com.
What we access from your store
When you install Glint, you grant it two read-only Shopify permissions. Glint requests nothing else, and cannot write to your store.
| Permission | Why Glint needs it |
|---|---|
read_products | To read product titles, prices, and images so they can be drawn onto your social share cards. |
read_content | To read blog and page content for article share cards. |
Glint does not request access to customers, orders, or payment data, and therefore cannot read them.
What we store
We keep the minimum needed to render your cards and bill correctly:
- Your store domain (for example
your-store.myshopify.com) and the dates Glint was installed and uninstalled. - A Shopify access token issued to Glint by Shopify, used to read product data when a card is rendered. It is stored encrypted at rest and is revoked by Shopify on uninstall.
- Your template choice and field mappings — which template you picked and which product fields fill which slots.
- Render events — your store domain, the product ID rendered, and a timestamp. This is how the monthly free-tier allowance is counted and how your usage chart is drawn.
- Subscription status — your plan, its status, and the current billing period, as reported to us by Shopify.
- Your store name, and the store owner’s name and email address, read from your Shopify store profile when you install. This is the address Shopify itself uses to contact the owner. We use it only to send the emails described below.
- A log of the emails we have sent your store — the type of email and when, so nothing is sent twice. Not the content.
We do not store your customers’ personal data. We do not store payment card details — Shopify processes all billing and Glint never sees a card number.
Product images are fetched from Shopify’s CDN at render time and composited into the card. We do not keep a separate copy of your product catalog.
Emails we send
Glint sends three kinds of email, and you control two of them:
- Account notices — install confirmation and setup steps, usage-limit warnings, plan changes, and uninstall confirmation. These are part of the service and are sent while Glint is installed. Uninstalling stops them.
- Setup & tips— a check-in if your cards don’t seem to be live yet, a note when your first card is shared, and an occasional request for an App Store review.
- Product updates — launch news, new templates and features, about once a month at most.
Every Setup & tips and Product updates email has a one-click unsubscribe and a link to your email preferences. Emails can record whether they were opened and which links were clicked; we use this only to judge whether an email was useful.
Launch list. If you join the launch list on glintpreviews.com, we store only your email address and the fact that you confirmed it by clicking the link we sent. We use it to tell you when Glint launches and to send occasional product news. Unsubscribe at any time from any email, or ask us to delete it.
How rendered images are cached
Generated cards are cached at the edge so that social networks get a fast response. A cached card contains only what is visible on it: product title, price, image, and your store or brand name. Caches are invalidated when you edit the product or change your template.
Because a share card is embedded in your storefront’s public HTML, the generated image URL is public by design — anyone who can see your product page can fetch the card.
Who else processes your data
Glint runs on a small number of infrastructure providers, each acting as a sub-processor:
- Vercel — hosting and edge rendering.
- Neon — the Postgres database holding the records listed above.
- Shopify — the platform itself, plus billing.
- Resend — sending our emails, and keeping the contact list and email preferences described above. Messages sent to our
@glintpreviews.comaddresses are also received through Resend. - Notion (Notion Labs, Inc.) — our internal workspace. It holds your store name, owner name, owner email, plan, and install/uninstall dates, and the contents of any email you send to an
@glintpreviews.comaddress, so we can run support and account operations in one place.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
How long we keep it
When you uninstall Glint, Shopify revokes your access token and notifies us, and we delete our stored copy of the token immediately.
48 hoursafter uninstall, Shopify sends us a request to erase your store’s data. When it arrives we permanently delete your store record (including the owner’s name and email address), template settings and mappings, render events, subscription records, and our email log, and we delete the owner’s contact from our email provider. Your store’s record and activity log in our internal Notion workspace are deleted at the same time (Notion removes them permanently within 30 days). If you have reinstalled Glint by then, we keep your settings and ignore the request.
We keep support correspondence — emails you send to an @glintpreviews.comaddress, and our replies — even after your store record is erased, so we can keep handling the conversation. You can ask us to delete it too by emailing support@glintpreviews.com.
Launch-list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe from everything or ask us to delete them.
Glint implements Shopify’s mandatory compliance webhooks — customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact — so requests made through Shopify reach us automatically.
Your rights
You can ask us to confirm what we hold about your store, correct it, or delete it. Email support@glintpreviews.com from an address associated with the store and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you may also have a right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or add a sub-processor, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced inside the app before they take effect.
